Watch Adoption is Hiring Remotely with Dynamite Jobs

About myself and the business

Watch adoption is a classic and vintage watch online store located in Queensland, Australia. We sell mostly on eBay (eBay store link) and a specialized online watch marketplace called Chrono24. We are also on Instagram at WatchAdoption.

My goal for the business is to become the no.1 Australian vintage/second-hand watch dealer. To help transition from eBay/Chrono24 and become more visible within Australia, we are currently building a WooCommerce-based website.

The team includes

  • Myself (Aidan)
  • Reece who assists one day a week in a general operations role (Queensland based)
  • Anthony who uploads sales listings on Saturdays (who is also based in the Philippines)
  • Shane is our photographer on retainer one day a week (Queensland based)
  • Simon at Little Big Marketing runs an SEO company and will help push the soon to be published website to page 1 of google (California based)
  • Tyler who is a photographer/videographer who will be helping with upcoming website content (Queensland based)
  • As for who I am, and how I like to work: I come from a professional procurement background and love working with people. I am driven by searching for the best deal and love negotiating. As the business grows, I need to build a team of people who are flexible, good at creating and following processes, can track and report to me their “to do” lists, and more importantly: are detailed-orientated.

Role overview

The position is to help discover watch buying leads online and assist with various eCommerce tasks.

Job time commitment/days per week will be developed with the successful candidate as the auction project below is new.

Role tasks

  1. Help sourcing watches online:
    1. You will be provided website links to 50+ auction houses in Australia
    2. Create an account for each auction house
    3. Look at all listings to find watches (new, old and broken) in upcoming auctions
    4. Forward all watch auction links to Aidan
      1. Aidan will review and nominate which watches you will bid on and the price to pay for each
    5. Bid on nominated watches (each Auction house is slightly different) via:
      1. online bidding app or by
      2. calling the auction and nominating a “phone bid”
    6. Report price each watch bid on sold for (even if my bid is unsuccessful)
    7. Create an auction register that tracks all of these tasks, plus also:
      1. Username and password
      2. Buyers premium
      3. Methods of bidding (specific online bidding platform etc)
      4. Photos for future reference/market intelligence
  2. Help with various business tasks online, examples include:
    1. Uploading watches for sale onto eBay and Chrono24
    2. Creating DHL postage labels for eBay and Chrono24 orders and emailing to Aidan
    3. Entering receipts into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet
    4. Assisting with graphic design for eBay/Instagram/web (banners, graphics, infographics, text over pictures)

What I’m looking for

  1. Attention to detail is critical
  2. Task ownership and critical thinking to create an efficient auction house process and register
  3. Ability to track and report on your “to-do” list
  4. Time management is critical (as auctions are live and happen quickly)
  5. (If possible) graphic design skills

Daily requirements

  1. 9am AEST morning meeting for each day’s tasks (WhatsApp or Zoom)
  2. 4pm AEST report back on jobs assigned:
    1. On all jobs completed and outcome
    2. Jobs on “pause” or that need extra information or support from me
    3. Not yet completed
