People Operations Manager

Mudflap serves the $800B trucking industry, the backbone of the U.S. economy. Our market-leading payment products help truckers save thousands of dollars on fuel (their #1 business expense), while providing our fuel stop partners with access to new, hard-to-reach customers. We’re a fast-growing marketplace business looking for a new customer-obsessed teammate to join us on this exciting journey.

As the People Operations Manager, you'll manage both the big picture and day-to-day tasks of the People function. You’ll play a critical role in supporting a positive and engaging employee experience for our growing and dispersed workforce. 

Expectations (In this role, you will):

  • Have full ownership of the day-to-day People function and tools, which includes, but is not limited to, benefits administration, HRIS management, HR data integrity, and other core People administration items

  • Ensure compliance with all employment laws (federal, state, and local) and regulations across the U.S.; identify gaps and inefficiencies, provide improvement recommendations, and implement required changes

  • Partner with managers to resolve employee relations issues

  • Manage and iterate Mudflap’s total rewards program, including compensation and benefits, to attract, retain, and motivate top talent

  • Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Talent Acquisition, Finance, etc.) and external vendors to streamline and automate processes where possible

  • Build and execute people programs across the employee journey that align with our mission and values in partnership with Leadership

  • Support employees to resolve questions/challenges and provide an excellent experience to the Mudflap team

What we look for:   

  • 7+ years in People Operations/Human Resources. Prior experience at a start-up in high-growth mode is a must

  • Benefits, compensation, and compliance expertise in People systems (Tools we use: ADP WFN, HiBob, Greenhouse, Sequoia Benefits, etc.)

  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership

  • Proven track record of effective prioritization, being data-driven, and achieving results at a tactical and strategic level

  • Project management skills to see initiatives from vision to implementation

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently when needed and exercise good judgment to determine if others need to be brought into the conversation

  • Tech-savvy and able to quickly pick up new processes and software

The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $167,000. This information reflects a base salary range for this position based on current market data, which may be subject to change as new market data becomes available. The candidate's skills, experience, and other relevant factors will determine the exact compensation. This position may also be eligible for additional incentives such as equity awards or short-term incentives. Our benefits include medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, WFH stipend, and PTO.
